We are happy to announce that Carved Culture is now a proud member of BAFTS! BAFTS is a Fair Trade Network based in the UK, who partner with independent suppliers who promote Fair Trade retail. As a member of BAFTS, we must support the 10 principles of Fair Trade. These principles are:

  1. Providing opportunities for producers in disadvantaged climates
  2. Providing transparency and accountability
  3. Complying with fair trade practices
  4. Paying suppliers a fair wage
  5. No usage of child or forced labour
  6. No forms of discrimination, freedom of association and gender equality
  7. Safe and high-quality working conditions
  8. Capacity building
  9. Promote Fair Trade
  10. Respect for the environment in our business practices

So, what does this mean for you?

Firstly, you can be assured that you will be buying your products from a supplier who actively supports fairtrade products. By being an active member of BAFTS, we can ensure that all of our products are appropriately sourced from only well-known suppliers in the market. This ensures that all of our products come from areas in which employees are well looked after, working in conditions that ensure they are safe and paid a good wage. This provides you with complete peace of mind, knowing that our products have been sourced from an ethical environment.

Additionally, this means that our business will undergo a peer-to-peer assessment on an annual basis. This assessment is specially designed so that we can provide evidence that we have actively fulfilled all of the 10 principles that we have listed above. By undergoing this assessment, our company can help to show you, as one of our customers that all of our products are Fair Trade and as a result, we are an active ethical organisation.

If you have any questions regarding our partnership with BAFTS, please feel free to contact us directly for more information. Our friendly team will be on hand to provide you with any answers that you should be looking for, as well as answer any additional questions that you may have.

Additionally, should you have any questions regarding BAFTS as an organisation, please visit their website for more information about what they do, and how they do it. They can be found online at https://www.bafts.org.uk/. Here, you can find out more regarding their principles, and how they assess their partners.
