This Alpaca pom pom beanie hat is made from a blend of acrylic and alpaca llama wool. Each hat is handmade in Peru with vibrant colours and features a geometric print with a line of llamas. Pom pom hats are also known as birettas and during the 1930s they were used by high schools and universities as a decorative accessory for cheerleaders. Traditionally pom poms were made from leftover yarn and sailors used to wear hats with pom poms to protect them bumping their heads in tight spaces or when the sea was rough.
