The Adesu monkey drum comes from Africa and is made from a wooden with a goats hide paddle. It is red but features black and white striped detailing around the edge to highlight the instrument. Two solid wooden beads are found both sides of the paddle and when you twist the handle, the beads strike the paddle producing the sound.
This traditional African hand drum is lightweight, and is a great addition to the classroom. In fact, these types of instruments are an deal way to introduce music to children as kids love creative play and this combines world instruments with learning which makes them the best for educational use. As the paddle is thicker in comparison to most monkey drums; it produces a resonating sound. Unfortunately it is not suitable for anyone under the age of five years old because of loose parts.
