The roku tonę drum is an unusual hexagonal shape and has six edges. This drum is a type of tone block percussion instrument that is similar to the portable cajon but without the hollowness and amplification. It can be played by hand to produce rhythms, with a wooden beater for tonal clacking sounds or with a rubber mallet for more resonance. They come in three sizes; small, medium or large and consist of a solid wood frame with edging and a plywood drum head.
