The rustic Rumbai guiro is hand crafted In Bali from a sliced bamboo cane and comes attached to a bamboo stick which is used to play it. This musical instrument has a stunning floral dot painted design with burnt etching and features many different colours. To play the instrument you have to scrape the stick across the chunky ridges of the guiro to produce a rasps sound. The stick can also be tapped on the base to create a similar sound to the claves.
The stick striker is attached to the base so that both pieces can stay together which will reduce the risk of them getting lost and the instrument can be hung on a hook for easy access in the studio. Bamboo is more eco friendly than wood as it is fast growing and helps protect forests by reducing hardwood production.
