Description

In this tutorial you learn how to play the kashaka shaker, which is also known as the asulato or cas-cas shaker. These instruments are handcrafted in South America, West Africa, Indonesia and sometimes Japan. These Instruments are made from different materials like gourd, wood and hemp.

To begin playing you will need to position your hand as a flat surface then place the cas ball and rope between your ring finger and index finger. After that you will need to wrap the rope around your hand between your thumb and pointer finger. If the instrument is not the correct length it can sometimes be adjusted. The pattern you will learn in this video is the traditional way to play the instrument.
