When I first started working from home as a full time blogger, I found it really difficult to concentrate on my work as I had two young children at home that distracted me. Setting up a home office in a quieter part of the house was not really an option as our children always wanted to speak to me whilst I was busy.
I decided that my only real option would be to go to a café to do my writing, I found the busy atmosphere inspiring and it kept me writing with ease. I loved sitting in a café doing work, and I’d get one tasty coffee to last me all day. The main issue with going to a café three times a week and having coffee was that at the cost of about £3 per cup, I was spending about £9 per week, £36 per month and a whopping £432 a year on coffee alone.
When our children both started school everything went back to normal and I could then skip those trips to the café. The only issue is that I was finding it hard to work without a decent cup of coffee, and instant was just not cutting it.
The only solution to my problem was that I could buy myself a coffee machine and in the long-run save money, so I did exactly that. I brought a De’Longhi coffee machine and it pretty much paid for itself within 4 months and 2 weeks. Back at home I was now enjoying barista quality coffee and now my only cost is the ground coffee which I typically buy once a month for about £2.
At first I was hesitant to get the machine but when you do the math, it doesn’t make sense to not get one. It took me about a week to get used to making coffee, as the machine is a little intimidating at first.
This particular one froths and heats the milk and takes care of brewing the ground coffee beans. Once you have used the leftover ground coffee it can be composted, whereas with the other leading coffee machine brands that use the pods, are contributing to landfill.
